Those of you reading this likely have at least some knowledge of the idea of a long-term cruise around the world, living and even working as a nomad on a cruise ship.
As a prior “Resident” booked on the Life At Sea Cruise by Miray, my interest is obvious. And since it failed, I am looking for a replacement “big goal.” I’m still interested in the idea of living and writing (my chosen work for this phase of my life) for an extended period on a cruise ship designed for “work aboard” life. I’m still intrigued by the evolution of a community of like-minded souls, the relative privacy of a cabin for serious writing, and the availability of interesting people and changing scenery and towns flowing by my home and “office.” The friends I’ve already made among the (ex) Residents of the LAS Cruise have proven that the “like minded souls” part is real. Not everyone of course, but a lot more than I run into day to day. I’m excited by the community prospects.
One potential venture has my attention above all others, but I’ll mention the others briefly after this PSA of sorts. This blog, this posting, and this site are NOT monetized. There is no financial interest involved in the following, and I have no role in the idea other than as a potential passenger/resident. The wording in the next paragraph is from the founder.
“The creators of Nautical Journey Cruise Co are evaluating the plausibility of creating a new brand to offer world adventure cruises on a smaller cruise vessel to create an intimate experience where adventurers will get to make friends and explore the globe together. This will be different from the other world residency cruises that are in conceptual phases as we will offer flexibility in voyage durations, larger cabins, exotic ports, longer port stays, and a wide range of “adventure-focused” land and sea expeditions. If you would like to join our interest mailing list, please send an email to Kendra@NauticalJourneyCruiseCo.com.”
If you have any interest in the kind of adventure Life At Sea was intended to be, I encourage you to reply and express an interest. There is absolutely NO obligation or commitment inferred. The founder of this venture is Kendra Holmes, the ex-CEO of Life At Sea Cruise which was a product/brand of Miray Cruises. Kendra separated from Miray when Miray Cruise’s failure to actually come up with the promised ship was made public. I’ve spoken with her personally on many occasions, and in my opinion, she is trustworthy and dedicated to making the Nautical Journey Cruise (as described above) a reality. The investor(s) she is in touch with obviously care about potential interest before committing. It is not my place to make claims on behalf of the venture. But if you have ANY interest in making a cruise like this but couldn’t commit to the three years of the LAS cruise, I do encourage you to let her know by sending an email expressing interest. Again, there is no commitment or obligation. Don’t wait until all of the answers are available, just say “I’m Interested” and then a dream can be created that does need to answer all of the questions. I have already submitted my name along with numerous ex-Residents of LAS.
There are two other potential similar cruises still in the conceptual phase. Neither of them has a ship, as yet. One of them is going to great pains to make it appear that having a ship is a done deal. It isn’t, as yet, and anyone interested in a similar cruise would be wise (in my opinion) not to commit funds until the ship title is transferred, and the purchase is complete. I have a lot of money on deposit with Miray and am hoping that their promise to refund all of our funds actually happens.
This is a dream for a lot of people. Don’t be afraid to say “Yep, let me know what’s going on” to help make that dream a reality. Don’t commit money until it IS real! But they can’t make it real without knowing some kind of level of interest. Maybe, with luck and a lot of work, I’ll meet you on board one of these days.
